Daisy Sandoval
Daisy was previously a health leader on AtopicDermatitis.net.
I'd like to introduce myself as a new member of the Atopic Dermatitis Advocates. My name is Daisy Sandoval and I’m from Northern California. At the age of 3, I was diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis which made my childhood years very tough. Until the age of 10, I stopped using steroids and shortly after my eczema went away. It wasn't until college my eczema decided to make a reappearance and it came back worse than before. My dermatologist thinks it was caused by stress due to the fact that I was going to school full time and working full time.
Since then I have been on a roller-coaster with my eczema very many highs and lows. A low part of this ride has been being hospitalized back in 2019 due to a Staph infection. That was probably one of the most difficult things I've ever experienced. Also, a high part has been during college when I applied to masters programs in social work where I'd like to focus on mental health. Living with eczema extremely affects your mental health and impacted my very own health as well. I think mental health is such an important to talk about and acknowledge that it does affect very many people. Mental health is as equally important as is physical health.
I hope to learn very much from all these wonderful people that are apart of this team. Also, if you are an eczema warrior I'm always open to talking and sharing ideas with one another. I’m just a message away!
