How has eczema affected your day-to-day life?

Eczema can significantly affect a person's life, whether mild, moderate, or severe - from what you can eat to getting sleep to skincare and more. What impact has it had on your life? What have you had to change about your lifestyle to adapt?

  1. I just don't understand how people put them things on their bodies especially some very good looking girls putting them all over there arms don't they realise how ugly they will look when they get old

    1. thanks for sharing your thoughts on tattoos. I understand your perspective.

Tattoos can be a powerful form of self-expression and hold deep meaning for some people. They often represent important events, people, or beliefs.

While it's true that our bodies and tattoos change as we age, many people embrace this as part of their journey.

  2. Choosing what clothing won't irritate, checking ingredients in products that come in contact with my skin that I am allergic to. Having to moisturize all the time.

    1. I completely understand how challenging and time-consuming it can be to manage skin allergies. Choosing clothing that won’t irritate your skin, meticulously checking ingredients in products to avoid allergens, and constantly moisturizing—it all adds up to a significant effort. However, your dedication to these routines is commendable because it helps protect your skin from flare-ups.
Here is an article "proactive prevention: clothing" that you may find very relatable, that also has a few great tips.If you're not already aware, there are some great websites and apps where you can enter what you're allergic to (or trying to avoid). By scanning the product, they can tell you if it's safe for you. It's also essential never to leave home without a moisturizer, and I’m sure others in the community can attest to that! Recently, I started using Cerave Ointment (navy blue and silver). It lasts much longer, and I find that I don't need to reapply moisturizer as often, which is convenient and saves me money.

  3. Severe

    1. , we appreciate you sharing with us. How are you doing today? We know contending with eczema, especially severe eczema is really hard! We're here to offer you any support we can. Best, Sam S. (team member).

  4. My Son has eczema and right now I feel so isolated. I try and let him join in all activities and live in the moment. For example we did surf lessons on holiday, such a punch in the gut taking him out his wet suit, I see his demeanor change as he looks at his skin. The other dads still laughing and joking. I just want care free adventures with him I want to think about something else. I am so jealous of what the parents moan about at the school gates - all solvable fixable issues.

I hate it, I want to take it from him, I worry this is it now he is 7 - everyone else seems to have grown out of it.

    1. This is such a difficult place to be, and at the same time, know that you're not alone. Naturally, as a parent you want to be able to give your child the experiences that others in your circle partake in. I can share that from my own experience, when I was younger and my AD was so bad, all water made my skin so irritated that I was more than happy to take a pass, and I don't have any regrets. Now, as an adult, I can do things that I didn't do when I was younger. Perhaps have a chat with your son, and see if he would prefer to partake in activities such as surfing, even if it may irritate his skin, or sit it out and find another activity that you can spend together with him. You never know, you may discover some new interests or hobbies that you didn't know you or your son enjoy. Let us know how it goes! Chava B. Moderator & Contributor
