How has eczema affected your day-to-day life?

Eczema can significantly affect a person's life, whether mild, moderate, or severe - from what you can eat to getting sleep to skincare and more. What impact has it had on your life? What have you had to change about your lifestyle to adapt?

  1. Severe

    1. , we appreciate you sharing with us. How are you doing today? We know contending with eczema, especially severe eczema is really hard! We're here to offer you any support we can. Best, Sam S. (team member).

  2. My Son has eczema and right now I feel so isolated. I try and let him join in all activities and live in the moment. For example we did surf lessons on holiday, such a punch in the gut taking him out his wet suit, I see his demeanor change as he looks at his skin. The other dads still laughing and joking. I just want care free adventures with him I want to think about something else. I am so jealous of what the parents moan about at the school gates - all solvable fixable issues.

I hate it, I want to take it from him, I worry this is it now he is 7 - everyone else seems to have grown out of it.

    1. This is such a difficult place to be, and at the same time, know that you're not alone. Naturally, as a parent you want to be able to give your child the experiences that others in your circle partake in. I can share that from my own experience, when I was younger and my AD was so bad, all water made my skin so irritated that I was more than happy to take a pass, and I don't have any regrets. Now, as an adult, I can do things that I didn't do when I was younger. Perhaps have a chat with your son, and see if he would prefer to partake in activities such as surfing, even if it may irritate his skin, or sit it out and find another activity that you can spend together with him. You never know, you may discover some new interests or hobbies that you didn't know you or your son enjoy. Let us know how it goes! Chava B. Moderator & Contributor

  3. I'm in my late 50's and I've had AD since September.Prior to that, I've never had any skin problems so this condition is something that has really tested my patience and resolve. I've had to do a complete lifestyle change. Now, I have to watch what I eat. I have to remember to use mild soaps and moisturize. Wear loose fitting clothes. Remember to break the itch-scratch cycle. Suffice it to say it's been tough, a real challenge. I'd like to know what others who have the same condition do with the effects on the scalp. I use tea-tree shampoo but after a bath, my scalp itches like hell! Any advice(s)?Part of my scalp and you can see there is irritation after a routine bath

    1. , I hear how frustrating it is to deal with scalp eczema! You are not alone in that.
