Why are there so many eye problems connected to eczema?

I have constant eye infections all year round. Having itchy eyeballs is so aggravating. I try to manage as best as I can but I wonder why it is so prevalent among us eczema warriors. Most eczema occurs in the joints/creases of the skin. neck, inside of the elbows, behind the knees, wrists etc, so what's the deal with itchy eyeballs??
