  1. , thanks for all the great info. I’m amazed you can feel a difference the same day. Now I need to check if there’s a physiotherapist with UVB training in my area. Something I hadn’t thought about. Thanks again, and all the best, Cora Lyn, AtopicDermatitis.net Team Member

  2. I think if you voice your concerns with the hospital staff in charge of your treatment (Physiotherapists with special UVB training in my case), they can help you make the right decision. 😀
My personal take - and I am in no way medically trained - is that I definitely feel the effects of the treatment the same day, and it wears off over the week. So twice a week is perfect for me. And I would absolutely recommend trying it out if advised by your medical professional.

  3. , Thanks so much for the update. It sounds like UV treatment is definitely worth a try. I’m so happy you were able to stop topical treatment. I was wondering whether I should start with twice a week, as I’ve read that’s the norm, but I was thinking caution says just do one. It’s good to hear it’s worked well for you. I think summer has arrived here as well. Thanks for sharing all that important information. I appreciate it, Cora Lyn, AtopicDermatitis.net Team Member

  4. , : It went really well! It has been a busy May, and I wanted to get a bit into the treatment before sharing my thoughts. So far I have really enjoyed it. I stopped topical treatment after phasing out over the first 4-5 treatments, and usually have a big reaction. But this time I have only had minor flare-ups and only in certain areas (Usually most of my skin is affected). My regular moisturiser took care of that within 48 hours.
After weeks of going twice per week, I got pink from a UV treatment. They lowered the exposure for the next treatment and began scaling up slower (from 20% increase per treatment to 10%), which solved the issue immediately.
All in all: I am super happy with how it is going. I feel very safe, listened to and understood. The only downside is the extra care I need to take now that the Summer sun is finally hitting the UK - I got pink again between treatments this weekend, but nothing serious and could resume treatment.
Hope you are enjoying the Summer months.

  5. Thanks so much for your kind words about our community. We're ecstatic to have you as part of it! How did your first UV treatment go?? -Sarah (AtopicDermatitis.net Team Member)

  6. Thank you! I was going back and forth on it as well because of Covid - thankfully my local area has been spared and all of my interactions with Health Care has been very reassuring so far. So I decided to give it a go. I will make sure to keep you updated. My first treatment is tomorrow.

  7. I’m so glad you’re finding our community helpful, ! I learn so much here. I’ve been considering UV treatment as well, but I’m still trying not to go anywhere unnecessarily due to COVID. I’d love to hear what you think of it. Please come back and let us know, Cora Lyn, AtopicDermatitis.net Team Member

  8. Thanks, Sarah. Yeah these days I'm happy that the weather is getting a bit warmer and the moisture levels are stabilizing. And I am really appreciating this community. I have had a couple of rough years eczema-wise. And finding ressources and hearing relatable stories has been a huge help when I felt the most alone in my struggle. And I was especially happy to read good things about UV treatment, as I am starting one next week and have been quite nervous about it.

  9. Glad to hear that! Anything in particular you're feeling appreciative for? -Sarah (AtopicDermatitis.net Team Member)
