E²(squared) = Eczema + Earth Day

Just like the everlasting filtering system of photosynthesis, our human bodies have a similar cleansing cycle that the Earth does. There is an endless cycle of the Earth “healing” itself to remain in its natural state, forever spinning in perfect unison for us humans to live in harmony.

Clearing up the Earth

E²(squared) equals eczema plus Earth Day. It's a beautiful symphony of mathematics to express just how much the sources of planet Earth have helped me continue to succeed with my eczema. What can Earth Day and eczema possibly have in common? Many of us may have seen viral images of what a few weeks without humans going outside and causing pollution around the world does for the planet's health. Images and videos of new clear blue skies and water streams have emerged since the Earth has cleaned itself up. It didn’t need anything from us except stopping life as we know it to CLEAR UP.

Clearing up our skin

Clearing up… isn’t that what we eczema warriors want the most?  We want clear, clean, and itch-free skin. We want things to go back to how things are supposed to be for our bodies. We do not want this visible imperfection, just like I’m sure our planet never wanted the pollution and bad practices of human error to ruin their natural flow of existence to purify itself. The earth and photosynthesis is a state-of-the-art filtration system. Our eczema is a symbol showing us that a clog or disconnect is happening internally for our personal state-of-the-art filtration or detox system - which is our bodies - to work properly.

Detoxing our bodies

Many of us eczema fighters don’t have to be told that our skin is our largest organ of the body and ultimately the largest form of detoxification for our bodies. When flares appear on our skin, it shows us that parts of our filtration system are severely backed up, and more attention needs to be allotted. Just like we couldn’t see clear blue skies until all of the bad practices were paused (for only a few weeks, may I add), we too should think about cutting out the junk. Take a pause and think about which inflammatory foods could be cut out. Once proper elimination has been done, then you can focus on other good practices that can aid in the clearing out of your beautiful bodily machine, which will result in clearer skin.

Finding what's best for us

Above all, listen to your body individually and what it is saying it needs more or less of. Work with a healthcare provider or licensed holistic practitioner that you personally connect with to find out the best options. What worked for me definitely may not work for you. Since I have had eczema my entire life, I am very aware of the ups and downs of my body and how far I can or cannot push myself in this area of eliminating foods.

Eczema is more than what's on the surface

Our bodies have to live in complete harmony with every organ inside for us to shine as bright as the bluest skies and clearest blue waters. As my branded username, “Woke Within Skin,” implies, we have to be aware of our inner world and how we are treating ourselves from the inside out if we want the best results for our outer layers. Eczema is so much more than what is on the surface, and I am happy to share that journey with you. Let the community know how you’ve managed or have hope to create new skies for your skin health to shine through!
