4 Essential Oils That Ease My Eczema in Mind, Body, and Soul

Finding the right essential oils has been a very useful tool for me to use for my eczema care and treatment. While every eczema warrior will have their own, individual experiences with essential oils that may or may not match my own, in this blog, I share my personal top four favorite ones that I like to use to help with my sensitive skin in body, mind, and soul.

Which essential oil do I use for my body?

I like the holy basil herbal oil because I find it very useful for rashes that are oozing especially after I have overeaten sugar and processed carbs. I also find this essential oil useful to add to my DIY skincare in the form of balms or salves to apply on oozing, swollen rashes during or after being in very hot, humid environments that make me sweat a lot. When I apply a skincare product with holy basil in it on these types of rashes, my rashes seem to become soothed, but most importantly, less itchy!

Which essential oil do I use for my mind?

The next essential oil that I like to use is sweet orange essential oil. This one I use most for aromatherapy. I don't really use it to apply on my skin topically because my skin seems to get dry and irritated with the topical application of citrus fruit essential oils. Though, interestingly enough, I am able to eat oranges and citrus without any problems. As aromatherapy, I find sweet orange essential oil to be very uplifting emotionally. I find it to be a very warm and bright aroma that cheers me up like the sun. When I smell this essential oil, it boosts my mood, gives me hope, and makes me feel more courageous. It keeps me going on with my day even if I'm not feeling so great. In my non-medical opinion, I think this would be a great essential oil for aromatherapy if I was dealing with depression or sadness and wanted a quick pick-me-up.

Which essential oil do I use for my soul?

The next essential oil that I really enjoy using is palo santo. I like it for its spiritual properties. I use it as aromatherapy. This herb is used also to help treat depression and mental health which is great for those of us dealing with the trauma and potential negative emotions that can come with dealing with chronic eczema. When I use this as aromatherapy, I feel a sense of calm, relief, and release on an emotional and spiritual level.

Which essential oil do I use for everything?

And finally, my fourth favorite essential oil to use these days is peppermint. I like using peppermint essential oil mostly as aromatherapy. I find it soothing, relieving, and helps me to calm my mind and cool down my rashes from swelling. I also find that if it is in my skincare products – whether I make it myself or purchase from a store – that it seems to be really good for oozing rashes and helps dry them up. It also helps with potential bad odor that could come with certain types of rashes or oozing.
