Rules/Tips for Clothes for People with Dermatitis

Can anyone give me some rules or suggestions/tips for clothing for people with dermatitis? Because every time I wear denim jeans I have the worst pain as well as well as clothes or underwear with polyester, spandex, and rayon. What type of clothes and underwear and bras should I be wearing with what materials. And what are some good brands or stores to find these type of clothes that will help my dermatitis/eczema?

  1. Hi - Great question! At home I just wear tracksuit bottoms and a light top all cotton based. lots of hoodies and baggy jumpers.

    1. If denim shorts said it was 99% cotton and 1% elastane does that mean it would be pretty comfortable even if it's made from denim. And the cotton would override the denim in comfort over pain?

      1. , I saw you posted a forum topic on this too! I'm confident if anyone in our community has some tips on what they have found helpful to them they will share it there! I think for bras, much like it is for your clothing, it's going to take a trial and error to see what is the most comfortable option for you. Thankfully unlined and sport bra and bralettes are all the rage right now, so I am hopeful you will be able to find the right type that works for you! Best, Sam S. (Atopic Dermatitis team).

      2. Thank you well at least the clothes I've gotten some that are 100% cotton after shopping yesterday and they feel a lot better

    2. I'm thinking brands like Old Navy, Gap, Target and maybe Kohls might have clothing that won't kill my skin and make my eczema worse

      1. I will thank you for all your support. But I do have one question that's kind of off topic but is true that vitamin d deficiency can cause or make atopic dermatitis worse?

      2. there is some research that may suggest that but we can't say for sure! Here are a few articles though on the benefits of vitamin d for eczema: https://atopicdermatitis.net/living/vitamin-d-help-itchy-skin and https://atopicdermatitis.net/clinical/more-sun-exposure-improve-eczema All the best, Sam S. 3. Thank you so much for the tips. I have some clothes that I bought and I was wondring if I could upload them to see what you guys thought if they would work or not?

      1. And I also got some new underwear that was 95% organic cotton and bikini and went up a size so we'll see how that works.

      2. great idea to size up! Hoping that it will be comfortable for you.
