Getting a Massage for Eczema

When was the last time you had a massage?

I recently started to get weekly massages for relaxation. It has allowed me to become more relaxed and less tense with my body. I have tried various places, and none of them were the right fit until I found this specific location that I have been going to ever since.

Telling my masseuse I have eczema

The first time I went, I told them I suffered from eczema and talked to them a bit about my situation. I wanted to feel comfortable when receiving the massage and not feel uncomfortable. By addressing my skin condition, I was able to tell them about my allergies and how my skin can react to certain lotions and creams, which is why I have tested theirs out to see if my skin would react. If I had a reaction, I would bring in my own cream to use instead of theirs.

What is foot reflexology?

The massage I have been getting is called “foot reflexology.” In this massage, you get your neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, back, and feet massaged. It is an all-in-one massage that tends to last ninety minutes, enough time to get to all parts of the body.

What makes me feel comfortable?

One of the reasons I feel comfortable going to this place is because you don’t have to take off your clothes. In many massage settings, you have to get completely naked. In this place, for that specific massage, you only need to take off your shoes. Before the massage starts, you soak your feet in warm water for a few minutes to start the relaxation process.

What are the benefits of a massage?

There are many benefits to receiving a massage. You can have a better immune system, increase circulation in the body and, help push out bad toxins. Also, the stimulation of the lymphatic system helps us with immune responses regarding infections or diseases. It is important to move our bodies in ways that will help move the bad toxins out.

When do I schedule my massage?

I tend to schedule my massage on Fridays to end the week off right. If there are no appointments available, I schedule on Mondays to start the week right. If I had the means, I would go more than once a week to get a massage.

How can I afford it?

It can be expensive in many places, but sometimes locations will offer discounts if you buy more massages at once. They tend to have these packages, which will benefit you because you save some extra bucks. It is important to try different places until you find the right one. Sometimes it might be worth paying a few extra bucks for better care.

What alternatives are available?

If you don’t have the means to pay for a massage, many alternatives can be affordable. The first one would be to get a loved one to give you a massage where you feel tense. You can also give yourself one in the parts that you can reach. The third option, which is something I owe, is buying a massage gun. I bought one off of Amazon for about fifty U.S. dollars. It comes with different modes for different parts of the body. Also, the amount of pressure you can adjust to your liking.

Remember to always take care of your body and give yourself some self-care.
