Hydrating Marshmallow Oat Tea for Dry, Flaky Skin

This recipe is literally as easy as 1,2,3. Taking herbal teas is one of my favorite ways to take herbal medicine because it is just a part of your lifestyle and daily diet. In my experience for the past 14 years of incorporating herbs into my diet, I have found them to be healing accelerators. I found that they consistently help me heal from rashes and detox from poor dietary choices like eating out which I tend to do more often during my current solo travels. This is because they are not only a part of the natural world and the natural rhythm of the earth, but many of them contain medicinal qualities that affect the body energetically and therefore physically.

Benefits of herbs

These particular herbs are really great for hydrating dry, inflamed skin from the inside out as well as protecting and nourishing the digestive system. And they are naturally sweeter in flavor, so it should be a very easy medicine to take whether or not you have active eczema flare-ups. Together, they work synergistically to augment each other’s strengths, leaving you feeling much more refreshed, calm, and comforted.

Marshmallow root

Marshmallow root is really great for treating hot and dry skin conditions because of the natural mucilage that it forms that has a cooling, hydrating, and smoothing effect on the skin and the digestive tract. It is also really great for the lungs and dry conditions affecting the sinuses such as coughing and asthma for the same aforementioned reasons. I find it also very helpful for really hot summer days or when I am in desert-like weather, like in Australia.

Oat straw

Oat straw is naturally nutritive, containing various vitamins and trace minerals that are very helpful for keeping up the integrity of the skin, protecting it and providing wonderful buildings blocks for the body to create new skin layers with its nutritional value and quality. It also supports the kidneys and the ability to filter out toxins through the urine which is very helpful for clearing out the heat and inflammation that results in painful, itchy rashes.

Marshmallow leaf

Marshmallow leaf is good for treating in the nose and sinuses as well and is good for encouraging a calm disposition which is always good for dealing with eczema.
