Eczema and Lotion

Hello, I have an eczema. Usually most part of my body is always itchy, especially when im sweating. Some part of my body has a dry wound and and dark spot or skin like my ,hips, calfs and arm and on the other hands there is places which are genuinely an eczema spot like on the buttocks. My question is, if i were to buy those lotion and moisturizer to treat my eczema, do i have to apply the lotion all over my body or just the itchy spot? Can i apply a regular lotion on the normal itchy spot and eczema lotion for the eczema spot or do i need to apply the eczema lotion for the eczema spot and the normal spot?

  1. , Peter's right about it being a very individual choice regarding "how" and "where" to apply non-medicated lotions or creams, and/or eczema specific treatments (like cortisone creams). I have a rather mild experience with eczema, so tend to not need to bring in the "heavy artillery" of medicated treatments very often. When my skin does flare up, I apply prescription cream or ointment to the inflamed area only (betaderm cream or ointment 1 for milder flare-up, Taro-mometasone for rare intense intense flare). The rest of the time I just moisture well with a lotion after a shower (usually Cetaphil moisturizing lotion; or thicker Cetaphil urea 10 healing lotion in cold, dry weather, or on areas more prone to dryness). My hands or other places that need a thick, neutral cream get an application of Glaxal base. Good luck figuring out what works for you, Eimz.

    1. Thanks, thats really helps!

  2. - that's a tricky one to answer because it is all down to the individual. When I am creaming up I tend to only put on in the affected areas but I know that others spread all over. I know I have not been overly helpful here but that's what makes eczema so hard to treat. It effects everyone in different ways! Let us know what works for you.
