As to causes, what about psychological causes?

There's more "to it" than just what I eat and what salves I use....there's my psychological life as well. Like: am I suppressing something? A good friend asked me about this. I'm intending to explore this aspect.

  1. You are so right—there is absolutely more to managing atopic dermatitis than just creams and diet. It is wonderful that you are open to exploring how your inner life intersects with your skin health.

While psychological factors like stress or suppressed emotions don't cause atopic dermatitis (which is primarily genetic and immunological), they have a massive, proven impact on how our skin behaves.

In fact, there is an entire field called psychodermatology dedicated to this mind-skin connection. When we process heavy emotions or stress, our bodies release cortisol and other chemicals that trigger inflammation and worsen the "stress-itch cycle." Because the nervous system and the skin are deeply linked, calming your mind can genuinely help calm your skin.

Exploring mindfulness, therapy, or journaling is an incredibly valid piece of the puzzle. Be gentle with yourself on this journey, and please keep us updated on what you discover! Warmly, Erin (team member)

    1. Thanks, Erin, I was wondering if anybody would pick up on this !! We'll see what "success" I will have. Nothing yet, alas...Thanks for reply.
